Windlights Update Firestorm 6.4.12

Hello everyone!

On this occasion I wanted to take some time and make a parenthesis in the photos to talk about something important (related to the photos in SL)

If you upgraded to the latest version of Firestorm, you must have noticed certain changes in the way you use the lights, the sky, the water, and many other environmental factors. Well, this is because in the last update of firestorm 6.4.12 includes the full version of EEP that has been testing for several months.

If you are like me, you will ask yourself ... what is this about EEP? Well, Environmental Enhancement Project or EEP is a major enhancement to the legacy Windlight environments, introducing new inventory object for defining the environmental settings. I mean .. big update to make everything looks better yeeey!

Knowing this, as you may have already noticed, everything has changed. I know, people who start in the world of photography like me have probably already got used to the previous version and now everything changes! sad but not impossible.

Something that worried me was to see that much of the skies that I use to give an effect to the photographs had changed. This is because due to the update, many of them are not "compatible" with the new version. What a tragedy! Well at least that I thought...

Luckily, checking a little the Firestorm wiki which you will find here, I saw that all wasn't lost. There is a way to use your existing or favorite windlights from the old version. Here is the procedure to do it.

Step 1

Click on Wold - environment, then My environments.

Step 2

You will see a new window, right at the button you will se a +, click on it and the click on New Sky

Step 3

After that it will appear another window, clink on Import.

This will open your internal files, you must find the path where firestorm is installed, generally on disk C. The common path is: program files - firestorm - App settings - windlights -skies

You can choose the older windlights of the previous Firestorm version or you can search in your files your personal windlights. In any case you select the windlight you want to import and select Open.

Step 4

After this you can ajust the windlight if this change it or you can save it as its is. You click in Save as (if it dont work you click on the arrow next to save as and choose that option ) and it will ask you to put a name to the windlight, then press OK and thats it, from now on you can find it in your skies.

Of course, i notice a small change in my older windlights (sometimes even a big change) but afterwords, you can use the "base" of the widnlight and ajust it the way you wanted. Better that than start from 0 i guess...

After this, if you have more doubts, don't take a look at the firestorm wiki (from which I got the info) or write to me and let me know if you have any doubts or comments, maybe you can add something that I don't know yet.
